there is the gcli at the bottom of the screen, every time i press either shift button the focus moves to it. i don't want this, i didn't turn it on, not deliberately anyway, it is not wanted, it makes the browser unusable.

how do i turn it off [question mark] - [can't use shift to show the actual question mark symbol, or brackets or almost anything.]

Chosen solution

It seems to have cleared up now, possibly a stuck control key on the keyboard.

You would not believe how frustrating it was!

You can try to press all the status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times to see if that helps to recover from such an issue if it happens again. If it doesn't help then close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer.
