Mozilla Firefox randomly started redirecting me to a site for a security update when my browser is up to date.
So I was browsing twitch.tv when my browser randomly started redirecting the stream I was watching (without clicking an ad or an ad playing) to this site http://dl.browsersafeupdate.com/ which at the time I'm writing this is asking me to do an emergency security update for firefox, ofcourse when I noticed the link wasn't Mozilla related i closed the page, but then it redirected the other page i was looking back into that link, then I checked if my Mozilla was up to date through the menu-> (?) -> About Firefox and it said that it was up to date so I closed it again... and then got redirected again, that kept going on until I had to close the browser. Now I'm actually a bit worried, did i really miss a security update? and if not, was that just a really annoying random ad that somehow activated, or a virus?

Hi
Thank you for your question, and good for you for recognising this pop up as a threat and not clicking on it.
It may be the case that either this is an annoying pop up or could be some malware that has been inadvertently installed.
As a first step, I recommend you have a read of this article that will walk you through how to make sure your computer and your copy of Firefox is protected.
If this is not malware and is more of a commercial advert, you may want to include it in your pop-up settings to block it. You can read how to do this here.
You are currently using an up to date copy of Firefox and I recommend that you continue to only accept updates that have been issued by Mozilla. One way to do this is specified here.
I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
Firefox 41.0.2 is still the current version as can be seen on www.mozilla.org/firefox/all and the next Release is on Tuesday for Firefox 42.0
