This began appearing three updates ago. Every single page that I go to using the Firefox Browser this little devil appears. If I move my mouse and click around the page the icon will be moved. I have checked to see where it might be coded into the page but I do a View Source it is nowhere to be found.

I have checked with my Chrome Browser (which I rarely use) and it never shows up there.

I have done scans of all my drives for the possibility of a virus or such thing and nothing shows up.

I have also checked my add-ons - nothing there either.

The icon I am referring to is the "Download" icon on the right hand side of the picture.

Do you folks have any idea what this might be? I cannot get rid of it.

Chosen solution

To try to learn more about the culprit, try right-clicking the Download button and choosing Inspect Element (Q) from the menu. This should open the Inspector in the lower part of the tab with the HTML source of the button highlighted.

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can toggle caret browsing off/on by pressing F7 (Mac: fn + F7).

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

Note that this is an accessibility feature of Firefox.

I did attach a screenshot to my original post. I do not know what happened to it. Let's try again.

That is from one of your add-ons. It gives you an easy way to start downloads.
