Hi pharmerbill, did the "reset" advice help in IE?

To try to investigate further in Firefox, you can select and copy the following address, paste it into the Firefox address bar, and press Enter to load it:

chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

That should show an "Exception" dialog. In some cases, this dialog allow you to inspect the site's problem certificate. Try entering the address in the form and pressing Get Certificate. If the View button is enabled, click that to view the certificate. I have attached what I see for comparison.

Unfortunately, Firefox doesn't always let you retrieve a certificate that way, so that leaves us a bit in the dark.

Can you load the home page? https://www.statefarm.com/

When I enter a fake user name and password and select either "I want to pay my bill" or "I want to view my accounts" I end up on this page:

https://oams.statefarm.com/auth/UI/Login

Can you load that page?

When you encounter the problem in IE, does it give a more explanatory error message, or along the same lines?

Hi pharmerbill,

According to your description, when you visit state farm site, you get secure connection failed message. I tried to visit the website on my computer, it could work.

We can do the following things to troubleshoot basic configurations. Open cmd, enter command ipconfig/all, see if the computer has an IP configuration. Enter command ipconfig/flushdns to flush DNS cache, then use command nslookup to resolve the website’s FQDN, see if the dns server could resolve it to right IP address. When I run nslookup www.statefarm.com in my lab, I get a non-authoritative answer 12.197.161.72.

If you are using IE browser to visit the website, you may check the internet options, open internet options>advanced, you may click reset Internet explorer settings see if it will work.

If not IE, we may use other explore to visit the website, if other browsers could open the website, it seems that the problem is related to the browser, you may contact the browser’s provider for solution.

Best regards,

Anne he

Letting you know what finally worked: I turned the power switch on the back of my wireless modem/router off for 10 seconds and then back on...I could then access all the state farm insurance sites... I hope this helps someone else
