cant send emails with an attachment in Thunderbird 38.2

Hi I have updated recently and since then I cannot send emails with attachments. I have to insert them to send them.

When I do try to send them TB message says 'attaching' and just sits there.

How can I fix this? I have Win 7 and use bitdefender.

Sounds like something is going on in the background.

Is your Anti-virus product scanning the attachment/email? Suggest you turn scanning off and then try attaching.
