I have to refresh almost every time a new tab or link opens
This just started in the past week or so. Almost every time a new tab opens or I open a link Firefox freezes and I have to refresh to open the page. Getting very annoying.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
