My Default Search was changed to Amazon.com. I figured out how to change it back. How did this happen? Did Amazon do it? What should I do to avoid this?

What did I do to have the Default Search change to Amazon.com? How do I avoid this?

I already did this what you suggest to fix it. If I cannot be clear enough in saying over and over again, I want to know who did this, Amazon? Mozilla? then I'm going to mark this as solved because I keep getting answers that say my post wasn't read.

Did you install new software? Many will also install other programs, and change the home page and search engine.

I am quite sure I did not install new software. There may have been an update on Firefox. Mozilla wouldn't do this, I am sure, right?

Do you have plugins installed?

Amazon customer support said that I had to clear my cookies and cache to fix this. When I told them that I went to the Default Search Engine under Open Menu > Options they told me I wasn't cooperating and the chat operator hung up on me.

I didn't put any new software on my laptop.

However, there was a Firefox update about this same time. Could Mozilla have added Amazon to the Search Engine choices and made it my default?

Hi there!

By default , Google is the search engine. IF you want to change your search engine back to Google, go to preferences then to search . Select a search engine in the pop-up menu. To remove AMAZON select the engine name and click on Remove button to permanently remove it.

Hope this helps. Please let us know, if the problem persist.

Hello Mozilla can't play with the trust of it's users. By default , the browser search engines can't change. Can you please tell me the last software your installed? Hopefully i can help you.

Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
