What happened to the ability to remove emails from your server once downloaded?

more options

I recently installed the latest version of Thunderbird 31.7.0. When setup, there is no longer an option to remove messages from Server once downloaded. Why is that, it's very annoying and only clogs my inbox of my server. I don't want to have to go in to my webmail each time to delete messages. Is there anyway to include this setting? Hoping someone can help.

IMAP with iinet.net.au

It helps to understand the difference between the two protocols. IMAP is server based email. The messages are always on the server and you remotely view them from you computer and phones. POP email is downloaded to your computer and then deleted from the server.

There is no reason to go to webmail to delete messages from the server with IMAP. When you delete a message from any remote device it is deleted from the server and is no longer accessible from any device. If you want to keep a local copy of messages you have to move them into a folder under Local Folders before removing from the server.

Thank you very much for the explanation.
