Recently, my older emails have just starting disappearing from my in box. It is a IMAP connection. In my Thunderbird account, I am not able to see the box/(mark the box) in settings about how long to leave them on the server.

I also received emails from this same server on my iphone and on a different computer (Microsoft Outlook).

It was all working fine last month. This problem just arose and I can't seem to link it to any setting change that I have done.

Thanks for the link but I have reviewed this Mozilla help sheet several times. I have tried all the troubleshooting tips. I'm still having the same problem.

there is "retain on server" setting as mail is synchronized to the server. This would also be the case on all the devices you get mail on. Except perhaps outlook. It still defaults to POP mail accounts.

So you delete a mail on one of the devices or on the server and the change is reflected on all of them.

Right click the account in the folder list and select settings. Under Synchronization and storage there are some settings about deletions and storage, but please remember anything you set there re say deleting messages over 50 days old will be reflected on the server and other devices.

Likewise if your phone is deleting mail to save space (they have a very limited storage capacity) that to will reflect on your Thunderbird mail.
