so.. when I clicked the + to open a new tab.. it opened delta search > then I searched how to solve this and found this info:

"(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:"

the "desired value" thing didn't work, so I just typed www.google.hr as the value and it worked, delta search was gone

but I want the "site boxes" to appear when I open a new tab, so how do I do that?

((p.s. how are those "site box" things called anyway?))

Hi, I think you are referring to the New Tab page (Customize your Firefox New Tab page) so try this: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.url and make sure 'Value' is set to about:newtab (right click to change it if necessary, taking care not to alter anything else).

If Delta Search comes back - as I suspect it might, that means it is still on your PC. So try working through Remove Delta Search (Uninstall Guide) by Malware Tips. you may then need to reset the New Tab page as above.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

okay I get the site boxes now, but delta search appears as the home page even though i set google as my home page, doesn't bother me that much since i just click the x and start on a new tab but still I tried some of the options

- it's not in control panel - i used adw cleaner but it's still there (as the home page) - and I when i click troubleshooting information i get a blank page (and yes I did try the about:support)

Hi, if Delta Search hasn't gone, it's still on your machine. Note that not all malware removal programs will detect all malware - I know it's a pain, but you need to run as many as possible.

Here are more to try -

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

You can also try SearchReset, but until the malware is eradicated, it is likely to keep giving you trouble.
