Downloaded Firefox 38.0.1 and now edit/find does not work.

AIVAS

The Question above pretty much says it all.

I downloaded Firefox 38.0.1 (I'll never learn) and now edit/find does not work. The Find bar at the bottom of my screen has vanished and clicking EDIT and FIND does nothing. Also Ctl-F does nothing.

FYI, using Windows 8.1.

Does anyone actually check compatibility with desktops and laptops on new releases, or is it more important to be compatible with smart phones?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Apperently solved it self after 5 or six Firefox restarts.
