How to remove Safesearch.com?

I'm guessing that, somehow, connected to Safesearch, is that Opentab files are continually being put onto my desktop. I delete them but they keep coming back. The file images do not seem to be uploading.

Chosen solution

Based on a web search, if you only get SafeSearch when using your Firefox desktop/taskbar shortcut and not on new windows or new tabs, the shortcut might be hijacked. To fix that:

right-click the shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab

The "Target" for Firefox on 64-bit Windows 7 should be exactly the following with nothing after it:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

Note: If the Firefox icon is pinned to the task bar, after right-clicking it, right-click Mozilla Firefox to get to Properties.

Is SafeSearch the one from AVG? Or does it look like some malware?

The tab files might be from this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/save-my-tabs/ You can change the storage location for those files in its Options (according to that page).
