Chosen solution

Which version of Privacy Badger do you have installed? Is it enabled in the Add-ons Manager in Firefox?

The 0.1.4 version from AMO - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/ - is an old version that doesn't have an "UpdateURL" to tell it where to get an update from. For some reason EFF hasn't updated the version at the official Mozilla Add-ons website since June 2014 - "Firefox 21 and later" - but only up to Firefox 29.0a1 (the pre-release alpha tester version from like late-2013).

The 2.5 version from EFF - https://www.eff.org/privacybadger - is "spec'd" as compatible thru the future Firefox 40.0 version. That one should work for you. If it doesn't, you'll need to contact EFF for support for their add-on - they made it and should support it.
