As it is an gmail account there could be two things that is setup in Gmail Read this

Or its setup as a 2-step verification

2-step link

Is this correct??

This email'd been before. I have tried all the advice you have given me. Nothing helped. The very last where you could sign in, I get a page where there is only a cleat "Open".

Two differences from my gmail-setup When delete I have namned a recycle-bin (papperskorgen på xxxx@gmail.com) You have not.

Also my local folder for Gmail is

C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ewoxjhii.default\ImapMail\imap.googlemail.com

It looks like you moved it out of its usual place.

The first file you mention are of course a similar off. C:\Users\Rolf\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\dticuqyi.default\ImapMail\imap.googlemail.com

But not the other file: recyclebin! There are many recyclebin, but none that seem connected to gmail. Just as you type. Adding such ?? feels weird, and if so, where. There is nowhere in gmail settings where these files are mentioned.

I tried to throw mails from gmail. They ended up here:

C:\Users\Rolf\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Indexed\LiveComm\bc73b3ccaa9fb14a\120712-0049\Mail\66

The error I can see on your pic points to this https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754 There are links there that might help you.

http://mail.google.com i change 10 to 30 min. https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha - clear the CAPTCHA Grant access to your Google Account

As an extra precaution, you may Google requires that you perform this extra step when you log on to a new device or app.

Click the Continue button below if you want to grant access to the account.

The most important [art of that link is the less secure apps. Every mail client on the planet not written by Google is a "Less secure app" so enable it.

You will mean that i can not use Thunderbird anymore??

Ridiculous question: The password for imap.googlemail.com is well same as my Google password ?? The latter works after all. I log in to goggle can I download gmail there. But now I want to have them in the computer too, because I then have until now been able to use Thunderbird.   (goggle translate also this mail)

Who is asking ridiculous questions.

Thunderbird uses IMAP and POP to access Gmail. You browser uses HTTPS. So to say your password works on one is of Zero relevance to the other protocols, even though it is the same password.

The link I posted is a set of things you must set in gmail if you are to have any hope at all of making IMAP or POP work. (there is no reason to make HTTPS difficult, there are advertising dollars to the had there). Googles latest foray has been the less secure apps thing

Google are constantly changing their requirements relying on the old security chestnut as an excuse. Like the word Terrorist, it has become the excuse of the underhanded.

So please first confirm you have gone through the motions of confirming all the google steps.

The error message indicates it is one of those settings that is holding you back.

Just that you understand I will repeat this in swedish Google anser att alla utom deras egen mailclient är osäker Därför MÅSTE du tillåta "Mindre säkra appar" och tvåstegsverifiering ska vara av

Matt: It can feel so at times. Gnospen: I run TB as a program not as an app. The ev. practical difference, I have no idea. Google mail client. I understand I have no one. That's where I want to use TB. If TB is not ffunkar I can then just read my gmail connected, can not sort them down into 100 different folders etc? The answer to Sv. decreases the risk that I can not keep up.

Gmail / Google mail (same mail service provider) What does g in gmail stand for? Gmail / google mail (samma sak) vad tror du G i gmail står för?

If you have gmail you also have access to your gmail account thru google webmail. (Thats kind of a googles mail client you have) Du kan komma åt ditt gmaol-konto genom googles webmail, (det är en slags googles mailclient som du har.

http://gmail.com + login sends you to https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&continue=https://mail.google.com/ Om du loggar in på gmail.com hamnar du (se engelska ovan)

They say apps and mean apps and desktop clients (programs) Dom skriver appar men menar appar och desktop klienter (program)

Allowing less secure apps to access your account Tillåta mindre säkra appar tillträde till ditt konto

Desktop clients that need this set is Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. Desktop klienter som behöver detta markerat /satt är Microsoft Outlook och Mozilla Thunderbird.

I've been looking for two hours now but can not find: Allowing less secure apps to access your account.

Where in your detailed answers above suits "Logging in to the server imap.googlemail.com failed" in?

With the help of link on this page, I managed to change the security requirement for apps. Seems to work. Capricorns and thank you for all the energy you put into helping me. Will perhaps again, vemvet. greetings
