Try to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and make sure to remove all existing (desktop) shortcuts.

unchecking "Run this program as an administrator" under the Compatibility tab in the properties of the program was my first guess....darn.

Ok I understand that this is only happening in Firefox. If you start it in safe mode does this still happen? This will tell you if its an add on or a changed configuration:Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
