When a website is slow or won't load, how do I stop it without exiting Firefox?
It was easy in earlier version. This has been so frustrating in the last year or two that I finally had to ask.

You can press the ESC key or click the combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location/address bar if you want to abort the page loading.
If you want to try again then you can use the above mentioned F5 or Ctrl+F5.

Two things you can do here.
- Hold down the shift key, and reload the page.
- On the address bar, there should be an X near the Home icon. Pressing this should stop the page from loading.
Also, delete the tab, via the cross, that is trying to load.
Thanks, Fred McD. I know to use the X to close, but I don't want to close Firefox when a page is taking too long to load. Also reloading the page doesn't always work.
I guess my only option is to open a blank tab, so I can close the tab that isn't loading. What a hassle! Firefox used to have an easy way to stop a page from loading.
I'm not sure if i understood your question, but, you can stop Firefox pressing Esc on the keyboard and reload pressing F5, Ctrl + R, Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R.

Diego & Cor-el, thank you. Pressing ESC did work when I tried it today. A few days ago when a site wouldn't load and many times in the past, ESC did not work. I've used CTRL-F5 to refresh a page but didn't think to use it to reload.
Thanks again.
