Been using Firefox for years - I always install it on a new PC. Just bought a new PC. Installed Firefox but the small 'icons' that appear on a menu (for example) are missing. I deleted (add/remove) Firefox and downloaded another copy. Same result. The 'icons' appear in Internet Explorer, Chrome and Opera on the same websites. I would send you a screen shot (as a pdf or a Word file) but I keep getting the message "Invalid or no image received"

Any suggestiosn about making them appear would be fantastic!

Chosen solution

Missing icons are usually supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you might see by little boxes that show the hex code of the characters instead.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).

I would check the security settings, maybe they are a little too strict for the website that you are trying to get.

Cor-el. Brilliant. Fixed my 'missing icons' in a few seconds with your answer. Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above Thanks so much! It's been bugging me for weeks and I'd even started using other browsers...

FOR MAC OWNERS USING FF: PREF / CONTENT / ADVANCED / Select "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above". - This will bring back your icons.
