Thunderbird permissions for users
Dear Thunderbird personnel,
I have a question about limiting users permissions in Thunderbird. I want to set permissions on Thunderbird extensions (add-on) installation, that users could not install any extension (add-on). Is this possible, if yes how to set it?
Thank you in advance, IT Department of Instigate CJSC Hayk Haroyan

Thinking a bit out of box....I presume people have their own computer / User Account.
Thunderbird would need to have been already installed, but I'm thinking could you change privileges and prevent the user from installing/downloading any further software.

Not that I know of.
All such settings, if provided within Thunderbird, would be in user-editable files anyway. I think you'd need a custom build that lacked access to the addons page and probably server settings pages, and a total rethink on how to make settings files inaccessible; I think they'd have to be encrypted.
Thank you for reply

OK thank you, but I use Ubuntu linux, and change from root .thunderbird/USERDEFAULT/extensions directory permissions, and the user can not install any add-on. If I want to install any add-on I will change permissions back and install it. Regards, Hayk.
