Firefox won't open Amazon UK

Forgive me, I'm not a tech guru here so you are going to have to talk way down to me.

Everything was fine up until yesterday. I went to check an order status and got the famous "Problem loading page". Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.amazon.co.uk. I've checked and done everything on my computer to do. I've been in contact with Amazon UK via twitter and they say they're not having any problems.

I apologize, I know it's 1 site among millions upon millions but I use this 1 site a lot.

What can I do to fix the problem?

I looked up its IP. Try to use that to connect to amazon.co.uk 176.32.108.186

It worked for me.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies
    Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

I did everything you posted and Amazon UK still won't open. All other sites are fine.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

I have a McAfee plug in. Is that what you're talking about?

I tried to ping it from a dos-window with all my security turned of. Cant find it. so its NOT a firefox isue. I could ping any other amazon-site but .uk Probably its not in our dns-server. Im on bredband.se
