how can i add a site to my New Tab page without first having to bookmark & drag it?

presently to add a site to my New Tab page:

00 = open a New Tab page 0 = bookmark site 1 = drag site into empty rectangle on New Tab page

i would like to just enter by typing or dragging directly, without having to bookmark it first. pls advise

Please update to the latest Firefox 34 version. https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

You can drag an history item as well (e.g. from the history sidebar), so yuo do not need to bookmark a website.
