How do I reset my outlook.com account?

I have somehow deleted the flag, rubbish bin and folder symbols next to the subject line in my Outlook account. I am no longer able to access the different pages in the folders. I believe I have accidentally altered something in the settings or add-ons but not sure what. I have spoken with Outlook and we have discovered the account is correct in other browsers, it is only incorrect in Firefox. Can someone help me please?

Reset Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Since it only happens in Firefox, you could try deleting the Outlook cookie(s) - go to Options (in the main menu, unless you've moved it) > Privacy tab, click Show Cookies, select any Outlook cookie(s), then Remove Cookie.

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately it did not fix the problem. I remember it happened when I was trying to de-activate some plug-ins. Could that be were the problem lies?

In that case, perhaps you should set them all to Always Activate, restart Firefox, and see if Outlook works. If so, you can deactivate them one at a time until the problem returns, then you will know which one of them is the culprit.

No, still not fixed! Activated the Plug ins and the Add ons but still didn't work. Could I have deleted one by mistake?

A Plug-in would have to be uninstalled, so it's unlikely you've done that by mistake. You might have deleted an Add-on but that shouldn't be a problem, since Firefox works without them. The only thing I can suggest now, is that you do a reset of Firefox. Instructions are here, together with details of what will be removed. It might be worth waiting a while first though, to see if anyone can suggest anything else.
