Sync keeps on adding bookmarks by itself by the dozen

more options

I have been using sync for as long as I can remember on multiple devices, never had a problem. But lately, it seems to have gone haywire. It keeps on adding the same bookmarks over and over again, and it does this completely by itself. It has added the same website about 50 times within a minute. I cannot even visit this web site so quickly. Also, the bookmarks tool bar has gone berserk. It keeps on rearranging the bookmarks by itself, in no particular order (i.e. not alphabetical or something like that). I really do like sync and I need it since I use multiple devices. Any suggestion or help is welcome.

That iCloud Bookmarks extension may be the cause. Not a good idea to synchronize bookmarks with multiple applications. We have had a number of reports that Xmarks along with Firefox Sync caused complete sets of bookmarks to duplicate completely over a few days.

At a minimum, you should disable one while the other is active. With Sync you will need to "unlink" and with that iCloud extension, disabling that extension in the Addons Manager tab might work.

I don't know anything about iCloud, but with Sync adding a new bookmark in one Firefox installation, that new bookmark addition is reflected in another installation within seconds. With both "sync" services operating at the same, a new bookmark might be "pinging" back and forth repeatedly, and confusing each service with the new addition.
