How do I know if I am still on the ESR release version?
If I choose Help, About it shows I am on Firefox 32.0.1. How do I know if I am still on the ESR version.
Chosen solution
You were likely using the 31.0 Release in order to get updated to 32.0
The ESR is updated at same time as a new Firefox Release. A ESR build will NOT update to a Release channel build so please do not turn off updates as 31esr will just get security (primarily) and sometimes allowed stability fixes.
For example 24.8.0esr and 31.1.0 was released when Firefox 32.0 came out. 24.9.0esr and 31.2.0esr will come out when Firefox 33.0 is released.
The old 24 esr is only going to be supported for another release perhaps.
The ESR is based on a Firefox Release every seven versions as in 10.0, 17.0, 24.0 and now 31.0 and next will be 38.0
edit: The 24.8.0esr was the last as there was no 24.9.0esr

hello rhodges2, you aren't since you would be on 31.1.0 then...
I will plan to uninstall the current version of Firefox and then reinstall the ESR version and then turn off automatic updates so that this does not happen again. It appears that the ESR version is not updated very often.
hello, the firefox ESR is updated in the same 6-week cycle as the regular firefox version, where it receives critical security fixes, so disabling auto-updates certainly isn't recommended...
you can download the ESR version from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/

I was using the ESR path and somehow was changed over to the regular path when 32.0.3 came along. For the last while I've been getting notified 34.0.5 was available. I ignored the message because I wanted to get back to the ESR path. While searching around trying to find how to get back there, magically 34.0.5 loaded itself and now I'm where I don't want to be. How do I get back to ESR and what do I do to get it installed?
You likely installed a Release and not a ESR version to be getting update prompts to 34.0.5
Firefox 31.3.0esr https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

Thank you very much! I appreciate your help.
please note that switching backwards is not something that is supported or should be recommended - especially if you're using the same profile between those two! since there has been a change in the password storage format in firefox 32, this will mean that you will loose any passwords saved after the point you've switched back to firefox 31esr once the next major 38esr release will arrive...
