hi, i use firefox everyday and donate. today when signing in it asked me to join a new program and was told to download a something for faster video....after i did this i lost my internet connection and can't get back on line

Uh-oh, that sounds suspicious. If you check your download history, could you tell us what you installed and from what site (right-click > Copy download link)?

For possible removal, I suggest starting here:

Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. Try removing whatever you just installed; there might be multiple items.

Next, you may want to run several of the scanning/cleaning tools suggested in this support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. You might need to download them to a USB flash drive on another PC if you cannot connect with this one.

Note that those tools are free and take time to run. If they seem to finish very quickly and then ask you to pay, then you have an infection. Please try the specialized clean-up forums in that article.

Or, if you trust the Windows "system restore" feature you could try rolling back to before the installation.
