have icon, can't open Firefox - tool bar access okay but nothing loads
A website I was using insisted I download Chrome. I didn't want it , don't like it, Loved Firefox. Firefox did everything I wanted. That was a couple of days ago. Today I don't have Firefox.
The icon is on my sidebar, I can click on the history, bookmarks, etc. but nothing loads. I have tried private window, new window, and somewhere , when I was beeping around looking for answers, a screen came up that had a long list of items and it said ---removed --- in front o f everyone of them.
I have certainly not intentionally removed my Firefox. I have no password that I know of and I keep a meticulous log. I am at a loss as what to do.
I tried to delete an icon that appeared in the center of my screen (not on my sidebar) and it said I could not delete it because Firefox was open. ???? Yet I can't access it. The icon on my screen is still there, I moved it to one side.
What do I do? Amelia Lindblad (Amylind)
Chosen solution
Try to do a clean install and download the full version and trash the currently installed version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
- Firefox 32.0: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
