How to stop music from playing when I open a new tab. This just started to happen.
When I open a new tab, music starts playing. It sounds like something from Publishers Clearing house might play. I did not add any add on.

I found the answer. This is only on new blank tabs. Of of the preview pages was playing the music.

I'm having this problem and it isn't going away! Nearly every time I open a new tab, I get some sort of noise or music. I HATE THIS! How can I make it stop?!
When I set the new tabs to open in "blank", not "enhanced" or "classic", the jingle doesn't happen. But I have to keep re-setting it when I restart Firefox. How can I keep the "blank" setting?
Hi Marion
You can set the browser.newtab.url pref to about:blank on the about:config page to completely disable the new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
