Why do my sent messages look different when composing versus when read? Why can't I see in the same font what I am sending?

My messages often appear differently when recieved versus when I composed them. Even with two different accounts in Thunderbird, when I write an email to one account from the other, it looks different in the composition window versus when I recieve and read it. Also emails to clients look different than what I see. It makes me look stupid and unprofessional. Why can't a messsage just appear the same to both me and my reciepient? Thanks

unless you use PDF attachments you can not guarantee what someone else will see. That is for ALL email, not just Thunderbird. Is the font your using web safe? are you trying to force font sizes and worst of all are you using information pasted from Microsoft office. Such as a signature file generate in Word?
