The button for the date/time is no longer on the bottom toolbar. How do I add it back on?

Do you mean on the Windows XP Taskbar? Try this:

right-click a blank area of the Taskbar, and choose Properties. Look for the section of the dialog related to the "Notification Area" and check the box to Show the Clock. Click Apply or OK.

If the box is grayed out, or if you already have that setting and it doesn't work, I suggest consulting a Windows forum such as: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/38-Windows-XP-Forum
