Why does Firefox 30 take SO LONG to install?
I have been trying to reinstall Firefox from scratch on this machine. However, it's taking so long to install I have now given up.
What was I doing wrong and what can I do to put it right? It should not take FOUR HOURS to even get half way through the install, surely? At one point I wondered if it was just looping around between download and install. I like running two browsers so I can test if websites showing down in one are working in the other. My choices are Firefox and Chrome. Well, they have been up until now, seeing as Firefox won't install in a timely manner.
I'm typing this in Chrome and using Windows 7 on a Windows 8 compatible year-old netbook. I am not willing to install Windows 8, so I'm hoping there's another option. I can't even get the Troubleshooting information widget thing to work so either me or the machine is really having a bad day.

Try using the full, off-line installer from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Thanks. Now have my preferred second browser back. It took a while but it is now installed and working, which is more than you could say for the previous version I tried to install.
It still hasn't cured the root problem with the machine but at least I've proved that it was unlikely to be related to Firefox.
