why cant i downloadmessages when they are on my server

I am running win 7 premium, on bogpond.com pop3, using a dongle. I know there are messages because I can log in to web mail and see them tere. I can send emails through tb but not receive. I havedleted all messages from the in box to remove any blockages and had a friend send a new message, have tried deleting he files in profile and re-initializing but I still cannot receive emails through TB

have you tried disabling email scanning in your anti virus (the number one cause of problems with mail connections)
