Thank you!
The icons overflow onto a drop-down list. To preview that now, switch to a regular (not maximized) window and slowly drag the right edge of the window to the left.
A problem (bug?) is that you do not have access to buttons in the overflow area in Customize mode.
You can use the Classic Theme Restorer extension to have one extra toolbar at the top and the Add-on Bar at the bottom.
- You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
- You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

Another way that doesn't involve "yet one more addon," is use the bookmarks toolbar to place your addons (if it's not completely filled w/ bookmarks).
If it's filled up, you can also put icons on the menu toolbar (where File, Edit... are - - it's normally hidden).
Using addons to do every little thing is asking for more problems - increases chances of at least one addon interfering w/ something. It may take a bit longer to find a solution w/o using addons, but often saves headache in the long run.
If you'd like to reduce the height of either the navigation toolbar or bookmarks toolbar (personal toolbar), I found (received) the answer to my own question, on Mozillazine - how to do that in Fx 29. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=13603913#p13603913
This would also work for the menu bar - just need the correct "id" for the menu bar & replace it where the "#nav-bar" or "#PersonalToolbar" are. It's very simple, if one can follow even most basic instructions.
Either add the CSS code to the userChrome.css file - may have to create a text file & save it w/ that name, into the Chrome subfolder, under the main profile folder; or use the Stylish addon (uh-oh) to handle all customization code for Fx. If you only have 1 - 2 customization codes, just use the userChrome.css. If not familiar, look up in Mozillazine's knowledge base - how to use, where to put, etc.
