I set Firefox to "Run as Administrator" - now I can't change it. Help Plz :)
Hi, I set Firefox to "Run as Administrator" and now I can't change it. I tried to uninstall it using the Control Panel and by the manual method (helper.exe) but neither one will work. I also used the troubleshooter option in the Firefox to try to "Reset Firefox" and that also did not work. Thank you in advance for any help.

What do you mean? If you right-clicked Firefox and chose Run As Administrator, that's a one-time action that ends as soon as you exit Firefox.
If you set the Firefox shortcut to Run as Administrator,
- Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. If Firefox is pinned to the taskbar, you have to right-click the taskbar icon, then right-click the Firefox icon in the menu that pops up, then choose Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, click the Advanced button.
- Uncheck "Run as administrator", then click the OK button.
- Click the OK button.
Note that there's no reason to run Firefox as administrator. If you're prompted for administrator privileges, then either something is wrong, or you've uninstalled or disabled the Mozilla Maintenance service and Firefox needs to perform an update.
Hello, The "Run as Administrator" box was unchecked but the prompt for running it as Administrator still popped up every time I launched Firefox.
I had originally set the "Run as Administrator" just to see if it made any performance differences. I had set it by right clicking on the Firefox shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator". I did not set it within the Firefox properties. When I saw it didn't make any difference in the performance, I tried to remove it, but it would not let me. And even though the box was unchecked everytime I launched Firefox the Administrator Pop-up box would appear.
As I was doing more troubleshooting, I switched to IE9 as my default browser. When I did that, I could then open Firefox "normally" without the Admin prompt. Not really wanting IE as my default, I switched back to Firefox being my default browser and the Admin prompt was gone.
I really have no idea what changing the default browser (from Firefox to IE and back to Firefox) had to do with this problem if any. I just know that it took care of my problem.
Thank you very much for replying so quickly ! I really do appreciate it.

Hello Moses, How do I mark as solved? Thank You.
Edit - I see at the bottom of the email it says "Mark it as Solved". When I clicked on it it said "An Error Occured". I will try again later. Thanks very much.
