Extensions are add-ons that you can install to add or modify Firefox features. Some extensions take control of your New Tab or New Window page (what you see when you open either a new tab or window) and your home page (the page you see when you click the home Home Button 57 icon). If this happens, Firefox will ask you when you open it for the first time if that change is okay.

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click General.
  3. Under Home page, it will indicate whether an extension has changed your home page.
    Fx57ExtensionControl-Homepage
  4. Click Disable Extension to disable the extension that has changed your home page. To set a new home page, see How to set the home page.
