here is the screen shot.
Update.
Note in this instance it appears to be Hitman Pro that removed the malware. (See comment downthread)
Hi neosilve88,
Sorry you are having problems. There is an awful lot of annoying stuff out on the internet.
You really need to be more careful and in future try to review both
- The download sites itself
- The software bundle being downloaded.
- Then read all the annoying small print because that will have told you what you were actually getting your self in to.
(If sites do not do -tell you what will install - And you can prove that then maybe Mozilla would consider blocklisting the site.)
Now you will need to
- Remove any unwanted software use
- The Firefox Addons Manager
- And the windows Control panel
- Scan for malware with multiple and up to date tools (see listing under)
- Reset using the SearchReset addon. That installs resets settings and uninstalls itself
Read Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page - And I am not sure anything cleans up your shortcuts. Right click on the Firefox startup icon etc to check the properties. A site address for; in this case probably awesomhp will have been added and will need removing.
Read the information and try it. If you have problems or need further information say so. Please post back with how you get on.
Run scans with multiple and up-to-date tools. Hopefully it will be easily detected and removed. I would not suggest you try any manual hacks or edits of the Windows registry. (Once rogue files are removed any residual registry entry will not normally do any harm.)
Your problem with Firefox is a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. You may have besides awseomehp related hijacking malware.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
- AdwCleaner: (for adware)'
- Kaspersky Free security scan
You need to use multiple and up-to-date tools as they will not all pick up the same things.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good FREE permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Modified
It’s very sad, but many of the software down-loaders / installers will trick you into installing not only their program, but other programs as well. You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print. You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that you do not even know what it is or what it does. From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.
I installed the malwarebytes , run the scan. still cant get rid of the prob :-(
neosilver88; don't stop with only one. Run several of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
Did you try all four steps that I suggested, and in that order ?
If you miss out on the last step; of checking the startup icons etc. you will keep opening the wrong page because of that.
Whereas if you do not find and remove all the unwanted software it will presumably continue to have unwanted effects.
FINALLY HITMAN PRO WORKED!! THANKS
