Firefox stopped opening tabs from previous session, like it used to. What's going on in V26?

One day it worked, the next day it didn't. I've done the TOOLS, Options, etc, but it changes back to Hm pg when it starts up.

You were right, jscher. It was ASC. I changed those settings and now I have my Tabs back on startup. Thank you! :-)

Thank you Teddy: Ok...so I started in Safe Mode and things were fine. Then I went through all of the Add Ons; turned all off, then turned them on one at a time. All is working. I also ran Malwarebytes. It found several bad files so deleted them.

For now, FF is working. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

You can reset browser.sessionstore.* prefs that are user set (bold) to the default value via the right-click context menu on the about:config page to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.

Next day (Wednesday), FF still only opens homepg.

Cor-el: No, its not set to clear the Browsing History. I checked out browser.sessionstore* according the link you provided and it is set to 'false'.

I guess FF will just have to be weird and do its own thing!

When this happens, can you use

History > Restore Previous Session

or is it grayed out?

Some security and utility software now comes with a "browser protection", "surfing protection" or "home page protection" feature that will undo your changes. One example is Advanced SystemCare. While this usually is designed to protect you from unwanted changes, it's irritating that it simply undoes all changes. Check your software for anything like this.
