Dear Mozillers,

I'm working on a personal website and was successfully sharing my music by just giving a direct links to *.ogg files; they were playing. But suddenly they stopped to do so (little bit after 5 -> 6 upgrade), now the player (Firefox native one) is just waiting for something, and Firebug says it god the '200' responce with 'audio/ogg' mimetype for the file, but nothing is transferred. Wget downloads it and Google Chrome seems to play this link... I'd like to know what should I do on the website to make it play "out-of-the-box" on any Firefox browser after 3.6... Thanks!

That file plays for me with all browser that I used (Firefox 3.6.x , Firefox 6 and the latest Nightly) on Linux.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

The player is playing Audio file just fine, no problems.

Now it plays for me too... I didn't do anything other than just restarting the system. However, when it was not playing that file, it was still able to play it from disk, so it wasn't related to audio hardware/driver. Have no idea what was the thing.

Thank you for your quick responces, I'm sorry that it was almost false alarm.

Maybe a cache or a server problem.

Try reload web page(s) and bypass the cache if it happens again or use Clear Recent History to clear the cache from the last hour.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Thanks, I tried clearing cache, but it wasn't that. The only thing I suspect now is that another Firefox instance, opened and then closed by other user might somehow confuse the first one. If I'll have more information on such situation later, I will share. Now it works though.

Thank you much!
