How to correct password when adding an email account.

jillzim22

I am trying to add a gmail account to Thunderbird and at the Account Hub I get an authentication error. I suspect I entered the account's password incorrectly but have no way to edit it. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, but the account info is still there. How do I fix this?? Thanks!

I doubt it. Disable the account hub in settings and try again using the more traditional method. If you still have an error your antivirus could well be a blocking factor. They think they have some involvement in this and routinely use the setup probes as justification to block an connection attempts to that address, others just insist all connections need to be scanned and because they use self signed certificates to do that it fails. You still get errors about passwords because the antivirus involvement is stealthy, really passwords being incorrect should be the main error. Unfortunately the poor state of our third party installed security software means it is not.

So you have already created the account, so all that talk about the account hub is meaningless. Ok. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-tb
