Where does it show up? For example:
(1) Downloads list and the folder where it was downloaded
You can right-click the download in the list (to show the full list: Ctrl+j), choose Open Containing Folder, and then Firefox should highlight the file in Windows Explorer where you can delete it.
(2) Firefox Add-ons page
If you ran the installer, most likely Firefox discovered the plugin. You can open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for the plugin on the right side: if it's active, it will be toward the top of the list, and if it's disabled, it will be toward the end.
If you find the plugin there:
Most likely you can uninstall it through the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program. On Windows 8.1, try typing uninstall in the search box on the charms bar to find the control panel. Then after the list loads, find Adobe Connect.
After uninstalling, if you close Firefox and start it up again and check the Add-ons page, the plugin should be gone. If it lingers, we can suggest additional ways to track it down and remove it.
Also, your Firefox identified itself to the forum as version 43. Is that correct? An update is available: this article describes how to get Firefox 47.0.1: Update Firefox to the latest release.
If something is holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 47, please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds. Version 43 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release.
Sometimes Firefox reports the wrong version because that information has been set in a preferences file. If the "About Firefox" dialog (see first article link) shows Firefox 47.0.1, you may need to clear our that incorrect information. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

I downloaded the update this morning that was 43. Now you say there is a 47. How do I know if I'm downloading the newest one? I downloaded it from your support page. Thanks.
When you open the "About Firefox" dialog, Firefox checks for updates, so that's the easiest way. What does it say there?

About Firefox is where I updated it the first time. It said 43 so I updated again & it says 47. . It is hard to understand about the updates. Downloaded Firefox Tuesday I thought was the most recent & it was 28! Why are there so many old downloads available? I guess that's a mystery of the universe. Wado (thanks).

You posted here with a Windows 8,1 PC, but the mention of those specfiic versions along with getting Firefox 43 a few days ago rather than 47 sound a bit like the PC that you used to download Firefox was a WinXP or a Vista SP1 PC that will "top out" at Firefox 43.0.1 for "downloads" and updating to the latest version has to be done thru Firefox. There was a change by Microsoft related to security which isn't available for WinXP and Vista SP1 which is needed to download Firefox version any later than 43.0.1. The "handwriting is on the wall" for those old operating systems. I suspect it won't be long before Windows 7 is the oldest version of Windows that will be supported,.
Sorry if I misunderstood your explanation of the sequence of events that you described.

Every version of Firefox ever released is still out there somewhere, but the official source will always have the latest version. As the-edmeister explained, Windows XP and Windows Vista are an exception.
