Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

• Clear the Cache and

• Remove Cookies
  Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

• Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
• Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Best would be to keep the mouse pointer at the left side or the right side of the screen to avoid menus opening if you hover them accidentally. I have such issues as well if I switch tabs and the mouse pointer is at the top of the browsing area or just on some other element that is set to open on hover. I don't think that there is much that you can do about this apart from avoiding passing this specific content.

I don't have the coordination.

The top 1/2 inch of each page has drop-down menus that appear when you mouse over them. This uses style rules and could be suppressed with custom style rules, probably, but then the menus would be invisible so to make them usable, a custom script would need to be added to the page...

Are there other menus on the site that are bothering you? I think everything else needs to be clicked.

No, it's the ones on top. I've had similar problems with other websites where they're harder to avoid. Sorry for the confusion.

Are you interested in trying a userscript? A userscript is a short JavaScript program that you can apply to sites using the Greasemonkey extension. This script applies only to this site, and changes the drop menus from hover menus to click menus. I also subdued the background colors.

So there are two things to install:

Note: scripts have wide-ranging capabilities, so be selective in what you install.

Thank you. It definitely works here. It doesn't seem to work on some other sites, but that may be a css-vs-Javascript issue.

The script is custom written for Mozilla Support; it is not designed to work on any other sites. It's difficult to create a general solution, although a real programmer probably could do it.
