there are a couple of changes in 47 that may be relevant to sumo, a couple of them on media/plugins:
the plugin whitelist in firefox is removed, so all the remaining npapi plugins except flash will be set to click-to-play by default. this is affecting a couple of video chat, vpn, smartcard plugins and others which were whitelisted until now (full list) - bug 1263630.
edit: this is not landing in 47 there was an experiment in firefox 47beta where some unnecessary plugin/flash content (counting 'pixels', fingerprinting stuff etc) was blocked from loading. since this had a positive effect on stability and page loading time this is likely to be retained in release as well. the blocking is going on in the background without any user visible pref to control that, but there will be some form of communication about this like a blog post before this goes into release.
the don't load tabs until selected checkbox has been removed from the main firefox preference window (& will be on by default). also, users who had un-ticked it in the past will be transitioned to a state where tabs don't load until selected again, because otherwise this would cause performance degradation with the e10s multiprocess architecture later on. despite this i think it is still possible to manually control the behaviour through the browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand pref - bug 1257554
edit: this was now backed out from 47 as well due to the crashing issues on windows 8 and higher there will now be direct3d11 hardware acceleration in use to display native media content which might lead to higher crashiness for certain graphics drivers & modules. affected users could either disable d3d11 dxva by switching the pref media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva to false or bugs could be filed to put affected modules on a blacklist centrally - bug 1248496
with google widevine there is a second drm module that is downloaded in firefox by default to playback drm-protected/crippled content on amazon for example...
a new about:performance panel was added that might help in identifying extensions and websites which slow down the browser - bug 1136927
as always please feel free to add to the thread as new changes become known or in case there are particular trends in reported problems on the forums :-)

There's a printing bug (bug 1276717) that won't be fixed in time for the release. It causes some users' pages to appear very tiny when they print it or view it in print preview.
(Context: this only affects users whose print size settings are in millimeters.)
We have a new article that tells them how to work around this problem:

The KB article linked from about:preferences is [[Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings]]. That article needs to be updated ([https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/startup-home-page-tabs-download-settings/discuss/6647 related discussion]). For Firefox 47 users who had un-ticked the '''don't load tabs until selected''' checkbox in the past, you can refer them to this new article:
[[Allow Firefox to load multiple tabs in the background]]
On another note, on www.mozilla.org I noticed in the green download box there is now only a Firefox Privacy link and no Systems & Languages and Release notes links now.
This is going to make it harder for people to get a build choice or locale and OS now and to see the Release notes.
Firefox 47.0 is Released.

Bug 1213372 - update footer copy on /new

Got to be a recent change as those bugs fixes are from almost a month ago as I saw the Systems & Languages and Release notes in green box on www.mozilla.org until very recently.

Due to the roundabout way of finding say https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/ depending on how you get there and not everybody looking on all of a page, I would not be surprised if we get get some wondering where the links to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and or https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/notes/ is now.
When I post the https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ link I tell people on how to find this in future as it was in green download box on www.mozilla.org before, now it is not so simple.
the popular nosquint addon (230k users) is breaking the zoom functionality in firefox 47 - [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1279561 bug 1279561]

firefox 47.0.1 is going to be released today. this is only fixing an issue with selenium webdriver which broke in firefox 47, so it is not relevant for most users (bug 1278605).
users who are already on 47.0 won't receive an automatic update to 47.0.1 unless they manually trigger a search for an update in the about firefox panel.
users on prior versions will be auto-updated directly to 47.0.1 though.

Accessibility issue: addon Visited no longer compatible
This is not a Release issue as such, but I thought I would mention it here.. There was a question {/questions/1132362) posted complaining 18% of the population is colour blind and that the important addon Visited is not compatible with Fx47.
There is apparently a simpler addon available, but that is slightly more complex to use as it is in fact a Greasemonkey script. If the only issue is changing the colour of Visited links that is also possible from the Firefox UI.

This actually took place in Firefox 46. See my reply in the thread you started here:
