Hi all,

Sometimes Firefox just closes a couple dozens tabs - I keep around 200 or 300 open - without my request or confirmation. It's not frequent, but quite annoying. Clicking History > Recently closed tabs > Reopen all tabs does not restore all. I don't know where I can find references for the lost tabs or Firefox logs where I could check what happened. My only suspicion is that I inadvertently rest my hand or finger somewhere in my notebook's trackpad, and somehow Firefox understand that as a request to close several tabs at once, but I have no clue if that makes any sense. I didn't test in Safe Mode because this happens too unfrequently for me to tell if Safe Mode avoids the problem.

Could you pls help me finding the reason for that? Does Firefox keep any kind of log I can check? Are there any keboard shortcuts or mouse/trackpad action that can be set up to do this?

Hello, I would like to suggest adding an option to open dragged links into Firefox window as new tab. At the moment it can be done through dragging link onto tab bar in between tabs, but due to small space, this can easily result in dragging link onto page tab.

Currently, when dragging link onto opened page, it will change the current page instead of opening new tab, which can result in loss of data or important information.

I think it would be safer to have this behavior as default or at least an option to set it active.

I've used Firefox for years, but lately, on start-up each day, all my previous tabs have disappeared and I have to start again opening them all individually before I can start work? I thought I'd solved this in the past when I had the problem, but it's back! Help please.

I just found out that my tabs are not stored when reopening Firefox. Only pinned ones are still available. In settings of course I have `Remember history` and `Open previous windows and tabs`... I'm new to Apple, but this behaviour is absurd. Someone said I woudl have to use Command+Q as a solution? That can't be true. Is there some strange way of installation of Firefox I did that only not pinned tabs are not remembered? I have all things up to date. I'm not a noob in computer science so I can verify something more but this out of the box bad behaviour is shock to me. At the same time on Windows I have 200+ opened tabs and no problem to restart Firefox and keep have them.

Since several months I had the experience that when I open a new tap, all my open taps, sometimes perhaps 25, are completely gone. Spend a lot of time in search and then I lose everything. Did not find a way to restore, sometimes I could. How it happens and how to do? It is more or less from the time that there is a special sign left from my toolbar and since that sign is there very strange things are happening. Is there a solution for it. I am using Firefox on Linux Ubuntu 26.04. I normally work with multiple tabs. Then I quit Firefox with all tabs open at the point of quitting. Some times on the rare occasion there can be a forced quit due to some issues. In my settings I have configured it not to open the previous tabs. In fact I want a blank page. But whenever I reopen Firefox, it opens those tabs and tries to reload which is annoying. Some of these pages take a long time to reload, and why would I want to look at tabs which I already have read. Or if it crashes due to some website on a tab why reopen something that crashed in the place ? Can you fix this. Thanks.

I really can't add to my Summary other than it's a fairly recent issue, started in May 2026, possible April. About.config is set to False. I hope some has a solution - it happens when I'm dealing with live incidents.

Personally I do not like the new firefox. My bookmarks will not open in a new tab automatically when needed, it over rides the current tab that is opened. Additionally I am constantly being bothered with a unrelated pop up every time I open a new tab. and the Firefox logo used to appear so that you could click on it and get to firefox's home page. New version is horrible. may have to abandon and use another browser.

Firefox is a great browser. Please add "Open in New Tab Group" to the long-press menu and floating tab bubbles for quicker tab switching. These features would make multitasking and tab management much more convenient on Android.

Hi, firefox: 153.0 Yesterday evening I put 3 tabs in a "group tab" I decided to call "ARS".

This morning I don't see how I can re-open this group tab. Many topics speak about a button "list all tabs". That button doesn't appear in my firefox (even when I have 50 tabs open). I tried the "customize" menu of firefox and "got back to factory setting", but it is still not there.

When I go to the contextual menu of a tab, I see that I can add it to a new container or the "closed group tab - ARS". When I do so for a tab, it closes. (I'm not sure it's normal.)

At this point, I really just want to remove the tab group (because I already re-opened the tabs... it took 5s, fixing the problem is now entering the 20'...) but I don't see how I can do it. It appears nowhere. I even "deactivated the group tab" feature and then reactivated it... the "ARS" group tab still appears in the "closed group tabs" submenu.

Some checkout sites love to open PayPal in its own window without menu bars, which clashes with my uMatrix installation, as I'm not able to set the necessary permissions to make the pop-out window work correctly. I want to force websites to open pop-out windows as a new tab instead of its own window. How can I achieve this?

I open firefox. Homepage is there. I open a new page. A new screen appears which completely obliterates the former screen. As if I had just opened the internet. With the next page I go to, it is the same. Previous screens masked. And so on, and so on. Instead of separate tabs appearing at the top of the initial page

I had maybe 8 to 15 container tabs, and they have all disappeared a few times before, i was a bit bothered but i didnt have anything too important there, but this time i had a few container tabs that had stuff that i had to keep there because i wouldnt remember them. now they are all gone, and it really annoying and i dont know how to get them back.

I have vertical tabs enabled and the "expand when hovering mouse" option is activated (see screenshot). However, the latter functionality tends to glitch at some point in basically every session. I can't tell if a specific action triggers it, so far it seems pretty random. The glitch is that either the tabs are expanded and won't collapse, or the opposite: they're collapsed and refuse to expand when I point at them. Is this feature maybe still experimental? or something? I'm running Firefox 149.0b5 DEveloper Edition on Garuda Linux (Arch based).

How can I get right click to open my selection in a new window? this option has disappeared!

When I right click to open a link in a new window, the top 2 boxes of the right click window are blank and below them is AI stuff, but no open link in a new tab/window! where did it go? How can I get the right click open in a new window back??????

I've been at this for about two months and can simply not find a solution. I normally have 40+ tabs open in my desktop browser. I can put my mouse cursor/pointer over the tabs and using my scroll wheel shift visible tabs left or right (not actually switching to another tab).

All of the sudden it seemed that when I do this the tabs just absolutely fly by. Like I can't shift just two or three tabs at a time, it's shifting 10+ tabs with just a single scroll wheel 'click'.

I can see ten tabs or so and I know that what I want is just a few to the right, when i begin to scroll them the tab I want goes shooting by so far left it's gone now. I 'm left having to click the left/right arrows to move just one tab at a time, but if I click them too fast I get basically the same response. They just go flying by.

How can I slow this down without also changing the vertical scroll speed of the mouse when reading long webpages?
