Please tell me how to fix the following error when running Mozilla.

Do you get this error when you start Firefox or when you visit a specific website or randomly or all the time?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Is this a site you are developing?

What versions of Firefox have you tested in?

There is a change in the works for Firefox 29 (currently Firefox beta) to deprecate the JavaScript method window.showModalDialog(). So a warning will appear in the console to switch to using window.open() instead. But I think old scripts will continue to work for a while.

This is what I get when I open my home page or any sites like twitter see attachments and when I click on a picture I get the error message. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

Sorry I can not get the docs to upload. But the pages have all the images removed from them and looks like plain text.

Have you gotten any error messages about Firefox not trusting secure sites? Sometimes if you get that error page and add an exception, the content from that main server will load, but none of the related content pulled into the page from other servers. Since major sites usually have good certificates, if you have gotten any of those errors, it is a red flag and we should fix that problem first.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.

  • Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden Menu bar.

Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images

  • Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.

Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images and other content.
