I have tried both automatic and mannual configuration to set up an exisitng email account email can be received but cant be sent. Same error message pops up always ' can not establish STARTTLS secure conneciton with, the mail server does not supportl change setting, turn off STARTTLS or contact your service provider'.

I have changed to SSL/TLS rather than STARTTLS manualy but did not solve the problem.

Look foreward to your kind advice. Thanks in advance

Tools menu (alt+T) > account settings > outgoing server (SMTP) It is the last entry in the accounts list. select your SMTP server click edit change the startTLS to whatever, SSL/TLS I assume. Save the changes and restart Thunderbird.

Ask your email provider what setting their server uses. They are the ones that set it up.

The provider has provided all server following, 1) server IMAP, address, SSL 993, other than SSL 143, 2) server SMTP, address, SSL 465/994. other than SSL 25 3) server pop3, address, SSL 995, other than SSL 110

I set the account manually setting the SSL to 993 etc, then save without testing. The error message popped up the server did not support 'Starttls. Mail cant be sent but can be received.

I would go to the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information and see if the settings reflect the change from STARTTLS to SSL. It sounds like it is still set to STARTTLS.

Just a thought, did you also change this for the SMTP server? It is on a different page from the inbound settings.

Dear Airmail, Thank you for your answer.

I am afraid that there is no answer to my problem in troubleshooting... and my mail account ( cant send out email even though that the setting of outgoing server has been changed to as such (, SSL 465).

It seems Starttls cant be changed to ssl in the case.

Airmail is trying to find out what your settings are. I have read through this and it is not clear to me.

Why are you setting up an account manually without testing? I can not follow what settings you have or even if you can send mail. So perhaps you could elucidate on the issue. Can you receive mail? Can you send mail? Can you copy and paste the account settings information from troubleshooting if the answer to either of the other questions was No. Then everyone will be on the same page.
