Something with the latest windows update is screwing up thunderbird. The program keeps freezing up and I get the following error message “A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: resource:///modules/gloda/datastore.js:2065”. It happened yesterday and when I removed the latest windows update the problem stopped. Last night mu computer did an automatic update of windows again and now the problem is back. Any suggestions? I don’t want to have to remove and stop windows updates.

I see reference to McAfee. It will be the root cause of your problem. The following diagnostic will help prove or disprove the assumption.

If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

Thanks Matt,

When I start in Safe mode with networking it seems to have fixed most of the issue (still running much slower than it did a few days ago).

I’m curious, what did you see that made you think it was a MacAfee issue? The script itself?

What's the next step to figure out what is actually causing the problem?

McAfee have been stumbling from disaster to failure with Thunderbird for years. I is my first suspect now as I have not seen a truly stable version for over a year.

You might join this thread Https://community.mcafee.com/message/327436 at MCAfee. They are seeking logs to explain the issue. Perhaps you can supply some. Either way please advise how you get on with McAfee. At this point we have no solution other than uninstall it.
