This is first time they have done this even though I have signed in the same way via firefox and nothing like "on Windows" mentioned. Your probably right, we will never know. Thanks for the help.

I think you are using Firefox on Windows. Were you blocked from logging in?

Maybe this is some kind of new security measure to let you know they know the various ways you connect to Facebook?

Or if they made a point of mentioning Windows XP, it could be related to Microsoft's push to get everyone off Windows XP.

Just guessing; we probably don't have any greater insight than you do on why Facebook does what it does.

Hi,

You must have login notifications enabled on Facebook. Facebook sends you an automated email asking you if you recognize this device that has logged in. If you don't, you can click the link in your e-mail and Facebook will let you change your password along with signing everyone off of the account.

Partially helpful. Are you saying Firefox and Firefox on windows are the same device? I thought they were not.

You misunderstand.

Facebook is telling you what browser and operating system you used to log in.

For example,
Firefox for Windows
Location: Post Falls, ID
<time here> <data here>

If I used a Mac, it would say, for example,
Firefox on OS X
Location: Dallas, TX
<time here><data here>

If you want, you can contact Facebook about this and see what they have to say. But as jscher2000 said, we don't know anything more about that.

Sorry!
