I keep getting "not responding" messages, using windows 8 and JAWS screenreader as I am a blind user.
Seemingly, Thunderbird is "hanging up" on me. That is, very frequently, I get the message, "Thunderbird not responding." If I wait long enough, the program resumes, but I suggest that this should not happen. Again, I am a blind computer user, running windows 8 and a screenreader called JAWS (job access with speech), version 15.0.0723

Most likely anti virus related. Try disabling email scanning in uyour anti virus program. Then exclude the Thunderbird profile from "on access" scanning by your anti virus.
