Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.
Firefox 24.0 isn't supported any more. In your other post you mentioned that you do not have this problem in Firefox 28.0. That could indicate that a bug was fixed in between those two versions.
Why are you using Firefox 24.0? If there are changes in Firefox 25 and later that you do not like, maybe there is a workaround. Let us know the issue.
Why the issue is not appear in ff 28? what happend about ff 24, i try ff version 24.4.o, the issue still appear. Could you tell me about root cause of the problem?
We make improvements in every version and to fix crashes like these.
According to your crash report, it linked me to Bug 883973 where the crashing issue was resolved.
Thanks for contacting Mozilla Support!
whether the fix is indeed being back-ported to a Firefox 24.x ESR release?
Do you still get crashes with the latest version of Firefox esr ?
If so please paste the Crash ID in to your reply.
Your crash report did not relate to ESR or the latest version of ESR.

hi jscher2000, You say that: "That could indicate that a bug was fixed in between those two versions"
The crash do not appear in FF 28, But i do not try FF 25, 26 or 27 to test this crash. Could you tell me what the version has fixed this bug "the first"
In the topic: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=883973, i don't see the version for the fixed
Sorry because I may be misunderstanding something,
Thanks!
Hi john99, this is crash report in ff 24.4.0 ESR: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bd57776b-b975-41ac-8593-cdd802140324
- )
I am not sure this fix was back ported to Firefox 24 esr. I do not see it listed as being in the original Firefox 24
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&f1=target_milestone&f2=cf_status_firefox24&o1=anywords&o2=anywords&resolution=FIXED&v1=mozilla24%2C%20Firefox%2024&v2=fixed%2Cverified&order=bug_id&limit=0
- I see you asked in the bug bug 883973#c50
I suspect if this was not a security issue it would not have been back ported, but those answering within the bugs would understand best.
The first step is to actually use Firefox esr !
and look at any crash report you get.
OK so you are using esr and it is crashing. bp-bd57776b-b975-41ac-8593-cdd802140324
I suggest you comment in the bug again including the link to that crash report and ask whether another bug report should be opened. I suspect it will be said that the issue will be fixed in the next ESR rather than being back ported.
Even if it is now back ported you have a wait of about six weeks. Possibly you need to consider using the Fx29 release in the meantime. As you are using windows you could consider the use of the unofficial portable build, otherwise install an additional Firefox version.

Not too satisfactory as it is rather against ESR principles but that is all I can suggest. How many Firefox users does his affect on your systems a few, dozens, thousands ?
Hello,
Could you please let me know how I can apply a FF patch? For example I am using FF 24.0. You fix a bug, make a patch for FF 24.0, then I download such patch and apply to my browser to have your fix for that bug, I don't need to upgrade my FF to latest version, is it correct? Or every bugs you fix you will submit to the latest version of FF only, I need to upgrade FF 24.0 to FF 30.x (latest version) to see the bug is fixed? Do you make patches for each FF version?
Thank you for your response. Duong Nguyen.
Modified
Why are you using Firefox ESR ?
Are you deploying Firefox on a Network ?
Normally the patches are integrated into Firefox builds that work there way in to the Releases so the latest version has most of the tested fixes. Ideally modifications work there way up changing each six weeks from Nightly -> Aurora -> Beta -> Release. With Firefox ESR they are much more selective about what is back ported effectively it stays much the same feature wise but does get important security fixes.
Bug 883973 - crash in JSFunction::getExistingScript was marked as critical and as a top crash. Possibly you are getting the same or a similar crash signature but because of some other reason. Having had no further response from your bug comment it is worth taking the original advice offered and filing a new bug from your Crash Report.
I suspect advice on compiling Firefox yourself is outside the scope of this forum. Possibly mozillazine could help
Meanwhile I have tagged this as escalate, lets see what the HelpDesk staff or other contributors can come up with.
I suppose you could build your own Firefox and compile it with additional patches but that is not something I understand.
Hi nhduong29,
Thank you for your question, the next release ESR I believe is Firefox 30. These are the known ESR bugs https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=720362&hid...
I would suggest subscribing the mailing list as well if you are going to use it: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
If you have any other questions, we are happy to help.
