Every time I open a link to a Vimeo video (mostly from Facebook) my Firefox 27.0.01 crashes/freezes. I eventually can get the page to close and all goes back to normal (takes about 2-3 mins). I am running W7 Home Premium 64-bit. Any suggestions? This has been going on for at least a month or more.

Can you please obtain a crash ID from about:crashes and I'll look it up in the database.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I looked up the crash report as suggested - no matching items to when Firefox lagged/froze so it is NOT crashing - just freezing.

Looked into the Flash player as well - all is well according to help page listed below. No problems playing any other video in HTML or the other.

Any other suggestions? It is only VIMEO.

Is this a problem with the Shockwave Flash plugin or is there an HTML5 media player used?

You should see the right-click context menu of the Flash plugin if you right-click the player area.
Otherwise the HTML5 media player is used.

You can try to set the Boolean pref media.windows-media-foundation.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the HTML5 media player.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar.
