Why does latest Firefox 27 freeze on the Mac after I leave minimized for a few hours?

Mac OS 10.6.8 Just updated from FF 26 to FF 27. My issue is that now if I minimize Firefox (using the yellow button in top left corner) and then go away from my computer for a few hours, such as overnight, when I try to restore FF it either will take upwards of one minute to restore, or often won't restore at all, requiring me to force quit it. I can sit here and minimize and restore many times over and over immediately with no issue; it seems to require a "time component" of sitting there minimized for many hours for the issue to manifest itself.

I have the Activity Monitor running and it doesn't show any CPU load worth mentioning during or after this, and i have over 5GB of 8GB total memory free. Nor do I have any other apps running most times except just firefox on this computer.

I can honestly say this issue appeared overnight; did not experience this with version 26, but certainly am now with 27 starting the day I upgraded. The "solution" seems to be to just NOT minimize firefox, and quit / restart regularly?
