Firefox, even after multiple reinstallations, cannot start because its "Class isn't Registered."

I have tried and tried and tried again...what happens is I install Firefox 27 and it boots up fine the first time. However, if I close it and then try to boot it up again, I get an error message saying "Class isn't registered."

Following other threads suggestions, I WAS able to get Win+r "firefox.exe" to work. However I haven't found a practical solution.

Installing Pale Moon worked fine, but I'd prefer to use the Stable release version.

So the problem just happened to fix itself somehow...I tried reinstalling Firefox today and now it works fine. Oh well. Computers don't make sense.

I can also confirm that Firefox Beta works. I suppose I'll use it in the meanwhile...still annoying as heck.

Hi,

Some users have been reporting that error and it's becoming a little more frequent than usual. There's been a discussion at /forums/support-forum-contributors/710008 about this issue and I've found a work around.

Try these steps: **WIN + R works fine**

  1. Go to your Firefox directory (C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox for 64bit or C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox for 32bit) and try to run firefox.exe from there. If it works, remove the existing pinned icon from your task bar (if using Win7, Win8) for XP just right click > send to desktop)

Rest is for Win7 and Win8. If you are running Win7 Win8 continue

  1. Try opening Firefox from the shortcut you sent to the desktop. If it works, then pin that shortcut to the task bar and see if you can run it from BOTH desktop and taskbar.

Did this help?
